You know that thrill you get when you win a Foursquare mayorship? Then you probably also know the pain of losing one. The competition for mayorships can get ugly, so I suggest a little self-imposed winner’s curse to keep things friendly: when you win a mayorship, you should send a small gift to the outgoing mayor. The easiest thing to do is to make a purchase at the place you’ve just ousted them from, they’ll probably be back there gunning for your title soon enough.
It’s just a game, after all, and social media are supposed to bring people together, aren’t they? Plus, it’s good for the vendors if the runner-up gets a reason to keep coming back too. Of course, not everybody takes it well…
