I thought I knew a thing or two about peanut butter, but today I learned two new things:
- Peanut Butter in a jar is a liquid
- Peanut Butter sandwiched between crackers is not a liquid
How can this be, you ask? Three letters: TSA, that’s how. On the tragicomic blog, Taking Sense Away, a reader writes of an encounter at LGA:
… a TSA officer pulled a small jar of peanut butter from my wife’s carry-on and told us we couldn’t take it. … , at the end of the conveyer belt on top of my suitcase, I opened the saltines, the peanut butter and the knife and made a bagful of peanut butter crackers.
Evidence not only of the miraculous nature of peanut butter, but also of the ongoing wonder that is the modern sandwich.
Now I’m wondering, how’d he get a knife through??
